Char grew up in Leith, North Dakota, a small town in the southwestern part of the state.  She attended high school in Wing and Elgin, North Dakota.  Char attended college at Bismarck State College.  In 1992, she obtained her paralegal certificate from the National Association of Legal Assistants. 

Char’s legal career began in 1979 and has afforded her 30 years of experience.  Her wealth of experience is in the private practice of law with a focus on probate, business, estate planning, and guardianship/conservatorship matters.   

Char has two sons, Troy and Kelly, who are both married with children.  She has five grandchildren.  Her children, grandchildren, sisters, and mother all live in the Bismarck/Mandan area.

Char’s hobby is horses.  She currently raises and trains Paso Fino horses.  In the past, she raised and trained Arabian horses.  However, the smooth ride of the Paso Fino horse has spoiled her.  She enjoys traveling with her horses and trail riding.  She currently manages her 40-acre ranch and four horses.  She also enjoys traveling, especially to foreign countries, and prefers a destination with a warm climate during the winter.
